Aerospace Testing Russia 2004

Exhibition Summarizes the results

In October 2004 Aerospace Testing Russia 2004 for the first time presented the newest equipment and technologies developed by the leading Russian and international manufacturers and suppliers to the aerospace sector of Russia.

During the three working days of the exhibition there were registered more than 3000 specialists from 12 countries and 140 cities of Russia.

Visitors of the exhibition included top managers and leading specialists of the following organisations and enterprises: GKNPC named after Khrunichev, "Civil Aircrafts of Sukhoy" (OKB Sukhogo), ANTK named after Tupolev, RSK "MIG", TANTK named after Beriev, Boeing, KrasAir, Lufthansa Cargo, AK named after Iliyushin, ANTK named after Antonov, Aeroflot, VASO, VIAM, Kamov, KAPO named after Gorbunov, KB named after Yakovlev, KNAAPO, LII named after Gromov, MATI RGTU named after Tciolkovskiy, NPO of Machine Building, MMPP Salyut, NPP Saturn, as well as representatives of defense, ship building, metallurgical oil refinery and machine building industries.

Aerospace Testing Russia provided the leading Russian and international specialists with a unique opportunity to communicate and exchange experience. Full business programme was presented within the exhibition. More than half of exhibitors held seminars on key issues of the industry and made their presentations.

The Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovskiy (CAGI) held a seminar "Measuring devices and systems for experimental research in aerodynamics, stability, dynamics".

As it is known, CAGI unique experimental facilities provides for investigation of aerodynamics and stability of all types of flight vehicles. Tunnel complex realizes flight conditions with the velocity from 10 m/sec to those corresponding to Mach numbers M=25 and provides for carrying out of a wide range of investigations on aerodynamics, stabilization, controllability and flutter of flying vehicle models and their elements. Strength and persistency investigation facilities provide testing of full-scale structures LA and their elements with various impacts and a wide range of temperatures. New projects developed by CAGI scientists and specialists were demonstrated at the exhibition.

Another important component of the exhibition programme was a seminar "Experimental facilities of FGUP CIAM named after P.I. Baranov". CIAM is the only one scientific-research organisation in Russia, which carries out complex scientific research and investigation in the field of aircraft motor-building — from fundamental studies of physical processes to joint work with OKB on the development, backfit, certification of new motors, and scientific support of their operation in terms of reliability and failures.

Also, conference halls of the World Trade Centre featured seminars of NPP MERA, ZAO Beta Ir, EADS test & Services, LMS international, ESA-ESTEC and others.

The exhibition attracted attention of the largest companies from Russia, Germany, France, USA, Israel, UK, Ireland and other countries.

Exhibitors demonstrated the newest achievements and unique methods in the field of aviation and rocket-and-space technique, components and subsystems. 50% of exhibitors for the first ever time demonstrated their products and technologies in the Russian market.

Elena Mur Trading LLC presented the following testing equipment to specialists of aerospace sector of Russia:

  • standard and special temperature and climate cameras TIRA UMWELSIMULATION GMBH (Germany);
  • modification sets for modernization NEMATEC (Germany) of cameras supplied to Russia earlier;
  • vibration electric-dynamic benches TIRA (Germany), ETS SOLUTIONS (USA);
  • electric-hydraulic benches SERVOTEST (UK);
  • renovated and modernized benches CVMS (UK);
  • modal analysis systems PRODERA (France);
  • digital systems for gathering, transforming, accumulation and transmission of data while in-flight tests of ACRA CONTROL LTD (Ireland);
  • high-speed data gathering and registration systems of HEIM SYSTEMS GMBH (Germany);
  • automated systems of double-face control of printed boards of SKORPION TECHNOLOGIES (Germany);
  • calibration benches for accelerometers SPEKTRA GMBH (Germany).

PPM-SYSTEMS, a distributor of well-known European and American producers, presented the latest achievements in the development of NDT material analyzers.

Analyzers of stress and changes in microstructure of ferromagnetic alloys (status assessment of vital parts) of Stresstech OY.

  • Barkhausen noise analyzers. These devices are based on Barkhausen noise and x-ray diffraction methods. Stresscan and Rollscan devices based on Barkhausen noise are used for status assessment of the most vital parts and components of equipment, such as bearings, wiper shafts, crank shafts, screw wheels, valves, bars and double bolts of equipment operating under load and assessment of pipe and chassis condition.
  • Portable X-ray diffractometers. Diffractometer X3000 based on X-ray diffraction is used for measuring residual stress and residual austenite of ferritic steel and crystalline substance. X-ray diffraction method is an accurate and reliable method of residual stress analysis which has been used for a long time. With the application of Bragg diffraction law, surface residual stress can be obtained by measuring angle of deviation of X-ray from the surface of analyzed component. This is an absolute measuring method which does not require calibration of samples or known in advance stress values.

Portable and movable analyzers of chemical composition OXFORD Instruments (Metorex)

  • ARC-MET 8000 "Mobile Lab" — optic-emission analyzer of chemical composition of metals and alloys in dustproof and damp-proof design, which is able to define alloy grade in a few seconds. It is used to measure low contents of carbon, sulphur, phosphor, boron and about 20 alloying elements; and to measure all types of steel: aluminum, copper, titanium, nickeliferous and zinc.
  • XMET-3000TX — X-ray fluorescence small-size (less than 2 kg weight) universal analyzers of chemical composition for measuring of alloying elements in metals, as well as composition of coating, powder, liquids, etc.
    Fire safe and explosion safe portable lamps and lights made by Finnish company Centaurea.
  • These lamps provide for safe operation in zones of grade 1 and are equipped with accident prevention system against short circuit, overload and sparking. They are not completely sealed and even a damage of the case does not cause an accident. Light efficiency of these lamps is higher than that of halogen flashlights.

BLM Synergy company for the first time presented at the exhibition the newest equipment of DATA Physics (USA), well known in Russia in the field of vibration testing and testing equipment. New equipment includes multi-purpose DSP platform ABACUS — the basis of vibro-bench and signal analyzers control systems of the last generation, and a new series of control systems SignalStar (on the basis of ABACUS platform). Demonstration of the equipment at BLM Synergy stand was held by Georges Sanchez, a representative of DATA Physics.

Visitors of the exhibition were very interested in electric-hydraulic testing machines with computer control and measuring system; electric-hydraulic vibro-benches; equipment for modernization of testing machines and benchmark dynamometer of grade 3 of JSC "Special Design Bureau of Testing Machines" (Armavir) which for 30 years has been engaged in the development, manufacturing and modernization of testing equipment.

Scientific-research and design centre of testing machines (NIKCIM Tochmashpribor) demonstrated a testing machine of new generation MIU-200KT. This machine is designed for scientific research in the field durability of metals and alloys with low-cycle load, for static tension testing, metal and alloy endurance testing and for the above tests at high temperatures (up to 1100C).

As a result of this specialised event, more than 80% of exhibitors of Aerospace Testing Russia got new business partners at the exhibition, and 92% of exhibitors plan to participate in this professional forum in 2005.
